Riverview recruitment are delighted to partner with Goodenough College to appoint a permanent Senior Day Receptionist within their outstanding hospitality and facilities team.

Goodenough college is a charity which provides residential accommodation to post graduate students from all over the world.


Job purpose

1.To support the Reception Supervisor in the day to day operation of the reception areas of two locations within the College.

2.To provide a professional and friendly service, to all members, guests and visitors.

3.Cover for the Reception Supervisor in times of holidays or absence.


Key responsibilities

·To ensure that all guests and members receive a warm welcome and a lasting and positive impression of the College.

·To be the first point of contact for all members and to deal with all situations in a courteous and professional manner in person and on the phone, ensuring that Reception is constantly staffed and kept immaculate at all times.

·To be responsible and carry out all necessary operations such as processing members and guests on arrival and departure, mail handling, invoicing, processing accommodation payments and dealing with service issues as they arise.

·Be able to act in accordance with the Front of House procedures.

·Be able to explain and reinforce all procedures including the Health & Safety procedures to all staff.


Support and Supervisory Responsibilities

·To undertake the daily activities of a supervisor when covering for one of their shifts.

·To ensure that the Reception team meet their daily objectives to required standards.

·Assisting the Supervisors with the training and development of members of Reception team.

·Act in a supporting role to new team members as they learn, understand and implement reception procedures.

·Liaise with suppliers and contractors to ensure that all Reception facilities are maintained and in working order.

·Maintain personal awareness of all site procedures relevant to Reception, ensuring that any required changes to procedures are brought to the attention of everyone involved.

·Ensure security protocols are adhered to at all times and deal with any matters arising in a prompt and efficient manner, to ensure the safety and security of members, guests and staff.

·Complete an end of shift report and action any outstanding issues arising.

·Become a First Aider & Fire Manager (training will be given).

·Any other duties as may reasonably be required.


Person Specification

·GCSE (or equivalent) English and Maths Grade C or above.

·Experience of working in a 3 or 4 star hotel reception or equivalent corporate environment.

·Implementation of customer service procedures.

·IT literate including Microsoft Outlook, hotel or room booking systems.

·A proactive approach to problem solving.

·Responsibility for setting tone of organisation and leading teams.

·Excellent customer management skills.

·Excellent team builder and motivator.

·Self -motivated and well organised.

·Flexible and resourceful.

·Performance orientated.

·Committed to continuous improvement.

·Team Player.


This role works on a shift pattern, working 12 hour shifts 4 days on and 4 days off. The shift starts at 8am and finishes at 8pm on a rota basis and will include weekends and bank holidays. The shift pattern involves working across 2 reception desks at either of the two buildings.
