Riverview Recruitment is delighted to partner with a higher education organisation that is looking to appoint a Capital Projects Manager to work on their development plan until 2028. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a busy and developing estates team at a prestigious University that prides itself on providing a vibrant community within a large campus that has diverse course requirements. This is a unique opportunity to work in the East of London and play a key role in the utilisation of space at a relatively new site and develop key work streams to mirror the new Vice Chancellor's vision for the campuses.

 

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Capital Project Manager will be responsible for  the project management of numerous developments, new-build and refurbishment projects and to provide strategic information necessary for delivering the 2028 vision for the Connected Campus and the Estate Strategy approved by the board of Governors.                                                                                 

It is imperative the successful candidate has substantial experience on high value project and cost management of new building and development projects and fast track refurbishment. As well as experience of dealing with property disposal and land sales and effectively dealing with customers in a complex organisation with multiple internal and external stakeholders at all levels. Knowledge of current health and safety legislation and issues relating to construction and estates development is key with empathy for working in the higher education sector and the challenges that brings.

 

The right person will have experience of developing the strategic aims and goals of a government institution as well as change management at a strategic level within a public sector environment.  With this role it is paramount that the post holder has excellent verbal and communications skills including report writing, presentations, and interpersonal skills for working at all levels inside and outside of the organisation. 

Furthermore, a proven track record must be shown in the ability to manage external consultants and project teams.

 

Essential Education requirements;

  • Educated to degree level                                                                              

  • Appropriate professional qualification in a construction and surveying related discipline (MRICS, MCIOB)
