Riverview recruitment are delighted to partner with Goodenough College to appoint a permanent Day Receptionist within their growing hospitality and facilities team.

Goodenough college is a charity which provides residential accommodation to post graduate students from all over the world.

Job purpose

To be the first point of contact for all members on the Reception desk and to deal with all situations in a courteous and professional manner.

To cover all 3 reception desks within the College or Club as per the request of the College Reception Manager or Supervisor.

To provide a professional and friendly service, to all members, guests and visitors.

The position is based on working 5 days out of 7 on a rota basis and will include weekends and bank holidays.

The shift pattern involves working between 7.00am – 3.00pm or 3.00pm - 11.00pm or any 8 hours shift within these hours; working across one of 2 reception desks at either of the two College buildings and it may include working at the Club which provides (4 star accommodation). 

Key responsibilities

  1. To ensure that all guests and members receive a warm welcome and a lasting and

    positive impression of the College.

  2. To answer and converse on the telephone in a professional manner.

  3. To be responsible and carryout all necessary operations when guests arrive and depart (check-in / check-out).

  4. Accepting delivery and sorting of post including packages and parcels for Members that may require you to move them to the back office area.

  5. Helping visitors and Members to store suitcases/luggage in the back office area.

  6. Respond to a wide range of member requests and promote facilities.

  7. Manage invoicing payments and cash operations during the day shift.

  1. Report all facilities and maintenance issues to the Helpdesk.

  2. Have operational knowledge of all front of house services and know how to access

    these services to meet the members’ requirements.

  3. Ensure that reception is constantly manned and kept immaculate at all times.

  4. To be competent and confident in the use of a range of IT systems.

  5. Complete a daily end of shift report.

  6. To Become a First aider and Fire marshal (training given) and carry out evacuation procedures.

  7. Any other duties that may reasonably be requested.

Experience

  • Reception / Front of House experience in a 3 or 4 star hotel reception or equivalent corporate environment

Technical Skills & Abilities

  • IT literate including Microsoft Outlook and Brilliant or similar hotel booking systems

  • Knowledge of StarRez

Knowledge/ Understanding

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Outstanding customer service skills

  • Fluency in written and Spoken English
