Riverview are excited to partner with Royal Free London NHS Trust to appoint a new Estates Manager to look after all engineering operations in their growing senior management estates team. This role is pivotal to the day to day running of the engineering operations and how it supports the acute hospital in North London.


This role is an excellent leadership opportunity for an individual who thrives on operations and people management and gets a buzz from the diversity of your days and problem solving to reactive situations. You will need to be an excellent communicator and be confident to motivate, performance manage a team of 30+ maintenance staff. The team consists of all electrical, mechanical and fabric engineers as well as overseeing daily contractor visitors to site.


This person will have limited budget and project responsibility but be expected to be the ears on the ground in regards to the day-to-day running of operations throughout the Trust.

The post holder will assist the Head of Estates throughout the whole range of Estate functions with specific responsibility for engineering maintenance and statutory compliance, capital maintenance management software, PPMs, testing of plant & equipment (e.g. autoclaves) and buildings and engineering services.


The post holder will provide the Head of Estates with professional & technical engineering advice and information as required. Utilising the PLANET computerised maintenance management software and database to ensure the highest levels of service resilience and statutory compliance are met.

Participate in the out-of-hours on-call service and undertake Authorising Person (AP) or Responsible Person (RP) responsibilities for at least three of the following as per operationally required: LV/HV/Medical gas/Ventilation/Decon/Pressure systems/Fire/ Water safety.


Ideally the successful candidate will be electrically or mechanically qualified and have a proven track record of working through the ranks of a high achieving, critical engineering team. This role requires excellent working knowledge of all engineering requirements with the ability to problem solve and manage a team to deliver required planned and reactive maintenance work.


You may be required to participate in a split day working pattern Monday-Friday 7am-3:30pm, 11am-7:30pm. Total weekly working hours are 37.5.
