Riverview recruitment is delighted to be working with Royal Free London (RFL) Property Services to appoint a Projects Manager. This is an exciting time for the capital projects team at the trust and the role is an integral part of the transformational change that is afoot.


Formed in 2018, RFL Property Services (RFLPS) is a 100% wholly owned subsidiary of Royal Free London Group (RFLG). Following formation RFLPS has embarked on a journey of transformational change in the way estate services are delivered within the NHS. As a Project Manager within the RFL capital projects team you will be based at the newly renovated Chase Farm Hospital and play a key role in defining the future direction and completion of various projects at the Trust and externally to new business streams. You will take responsibility of projects up to £1 million; for the coordination, management and delivery of such projects to ensure objectives are achieved in terms of specific performance, time, cost and quality.


Typical projects you will be responsible for include, but are not limited to; window replacements, fire alarm replacements, car-park upgrades (lighting, fire alarms etc,) and ensuring the delivery end to end of the projects. You will be heavily involved in the day-to-day running of the projects and be held accountable for the detail of each area. You will be good at working on your own and to tight deadline on reporting, meetings and deliverables.


The successful candidate will be a qualified construction project management professional (APM, RIBA, RICS or similar) with excellent post qualification experience and be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of capital development and project delivery in the health sector or similar complex environment. Completion of an HND or HNC in an engineering related subject would be beneficial and previous experience as a clerk or works, APM or Project Manager in a complex estate essential.


As the Project Manager you will support and guide the heads of department in the management of capital projects within the estate and to provide the most practical and economic solutions for design, procurement, construction, management, commissioning and maintenance of the development. It is your role to ensure they have the right information and knowledge at the right time to exercise authority properly.

You will also have responsibility for the development of corporate capital project policies that inform the process for procuring large scale work programmes and manage staff and contractors as projects develop, this will include the recruitment, selection, appraisal and performance management.


You will develop a robust and effective internal project management and communication structure with the clinical and operational teams and an information management and control system that ensures all parties have timely access to all information relevant to their tasks and the projects objectives and status.


Previous knowledge of HBN’s, Fire code, HGN’s and HTM’s would be desirable and an ability to use Microsoft Project and IT systems essential. It is key that the successful individual has good experience of project planning, programme techniques and operational experience of managing budgets.
