Riverview recruitment is delighted to be working with Royal Free London (RFL) Property Services to appoint a Senior Projects Manager. This is an exciting time for the capital projects team at the trust and the role is an integral part of the transformational change that is afoot.
Formed in 2018, RFL Property Services (RFLPS) is a 100% wholly owned subsidiary of Royal Free London Group (RFLG). Following formation RFLPS has embarked on a journey of transformational change in the way estate services are delivered within the NHS. As a Senior Project Manager within the capital projects team you will play a key role in defining the future direction and completion of various high-level projects at The Royal Free NHS Trust and externally to new business streams.
The key current project you will be involved in is the imaging equipment replacement programme. This scheme is working across both radiology and cardiology departments, delivering three MRI’s and two gamma cameras to the critical 24/7 departments. This role will be project delivery from conception to completion and is an 18-month programme of work. Alongside this transformational project stream there is an improvement of service, minor works programme including but not limited to; new nurse stations, new W/C’s, renovations and refurbishments of ward space and changes to space utilisation.
You will also have management responsibility of the relocations and commissioning team of three commissioning officers, who are responsible for the equipment schedules, temporary relocations, telephony and IT set ups, procurement of equipment and overseeing the delivery. They are key members of the team and work across the entire project team to deliver an exemplary go-live service.
You will take responsibility of projects from £250k up to £5 million; for the coordination, management and delivery of such projects to ensure objectives are achieved in terms of specific performance, time, cost and quality.
The successful candidate will be a qualified construction professional (MCIOB, MRICS, RIBA or similar) with extensive post qualification experience and be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of development and project delivery in the health sector or similar complex and critical environment. A diploma in Project Management or APM certificate would be desirable but not essential.
You will be responsible for developing, managing and coordinating the design development from feasibility and outline design to detailed design/specification. You would then manage the design process so that it is completed on time, is appropriate, within budget and that all necessary decisions have been properly taken and fully and clearly expressed in specifications and on drawings; check, appraise and comment upon all information produced to ensure compliance with project objectives.
You would have extensive experience of leading, planning, managing and interacting with colleagues and be used to delivering projects successfully in the spirit of cooperation. It would be beneficial to have previous knowledge of ECC/JCT forms of contract and have the ability to seek and share information and ideas in a confident and compelling manner to ensure stakeholder engagement.
You will have previous extensive experience of presenting and ensuring key issues are dealt with during programme board meetings, delivery group meetings and be able to deal with high volume and levels of change management. You will have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills to manage different interfaces, be quick to respond to urgent matters and provide necessary information to various parties.
An understanding of risk registers, change controls, in-month spend reports are essential.
Previous knowledge of HBN’s, Fire code, HGN’s and HTM’s would be desirable and a comprehensive ability to use Microsoft Projects is essential alongside other IT systems. It is key that the successful individual has good experience of analysing income and expenditure financial information rapidly and apply sound commercial acumen and technical knowledge to maximise value of the healthcare estate.
